Single digit daily deaths. That is even now that "Cases are skyrocketing!!!!"
Anyone with half a brain can see that over the last few months doctors have pretty much figured out how to properly treat this virus. This is why even though the infections (Which they need you to be scared of!) continue to climb, the risk of death is down over 80-90% since this virus' Peak.
Remember when NY hit almost 1000 deaths per day? Yea. Exactly. It's not as bad as it was a few months ago in MY OPINION and STATISTICALLY SPEAKING. (Look at the data!)
So yes, can you still get infected? Sure. Wear a Mask. But if you do, most likely we will all survive just fine at this point.
Open everything back up and treat those who get sick in MY OPINION.
P.S. Stop watching the news. They are in the business of keeping you afraid and angry, it brings in ratings.

Who is saying that it's as bad as it was before? Or that nothing has been learned since?
Doctors do know more about ways to treat covid or mitigate its effects now which is great. Another thing to also consider is the people that are contracting the virus now (or at least contracting the virus and getting tested) has supposedly skewed towards much more heavily less-at-risk, younger peoples for the most part and there's been a much greater availability of testing which could provide the surge of cases without the same surge of deaths. Also, there's probably something to consider in a decent chunk of the most at-risk people are much more cautious, already had covid earlier and perhaps immune and have not died, or simply already died from covid. Finally, did you try looking at the other tabs such as the number of cases? Along with all the aforementioned factors, there's also the fact that we're having far fewer cases nopw than we did at the peak. The graphs for number of cases and number of deaths do seem to have a high correlation to each other though there appears to be a slight lag between number of cases and number of deaths.
Restrictions in NYC have been greatly loosened since the height of the lockdowns, right? It does make some sense that some loosening of restrictions / changing guidelines would go hand in hand with better knowledge of treatment and transmission.
Stop watching the news isn't necessarily a bad idea. I think it sort of depends on what source you're looking at for news and updates and how well you're critically thinking about it. After all, we had some forum members here saying some rather stupid things earlier on in the pandemic and that might be because of where they're getting their news from them.
