With current interest rates, by the time they're ready for college, that might be worth maybe $102.83.

Money for Kindergartners, Spendable on College
New York City is giving every public school kindergartner $100 in a college savings account

What a wonderful gesture
but ultimately a piggy bank for the parent.

Close to 2 million kindergarteners in N.Y.C.
I think that's a waste of 200 million dollars better
and directly applied for the child's education.

The entire NYCDOE has 1.1 million students.

I have paid over 45 years in taxes living in New York City.
How about retirees getting the $10 Grand break instead ?
The city is doing a good job at driving us into the ground .
Might as well pay for a half decent funeral.
