On Tech Jobs in New York City (camps, tuition)

Has anyone been able to get any jobs in New York City tech companies whether established such as FAANG or startups, coming from a non-traditional background? If so, how good are coding bootcamps?

There are coding bootcamps in NYC that have guaranteed job offer upon graduation or a full refund of tuition after 6 months if you do not find employment. A lot of bootcamps already have connections with tech companies.
