Hello!

I'm an architecture student studying New York City public housing at RISD. Our group is studying Electchester and has read a few of the threads in these forums. We'd love to speak directly to tenants and hear their thoughts on what the buildings do well, what they could do better, and anything else you'd like to share.

If you're interested in speaking to us, please feel free to message us here or call us at 401-326-2633.

- d.a.y.

That's a fair point. I don't mean to imply that Electchester is public housing, our studio is studying various housing models including the cooperative model seen at Electchester. We're interested in exploring alternatives to the mainstream housing schemes as well as investigating the strengths and flaws of the lesser seen options like cooperative ownership.

From what I've seen in the forums, it seems that there is some friction between the residents of the buildings and the administration of the buildings. I'd love to speak directly to tenants and hear more about the situation firsthand.

I thought I posted but it disappeared maybe.

My Aunt has lived there for the past 7 years and it's terrible.

Bad management and bad tenants. A lot of mental illness and even small time illegal racketeering/drugs depending on which housing bubble it is.

Basically a slightly better extension of Pomonok Projectz.

When I used to hang out there it was nice and quiet.

Yes, it used to be OK in the 90s and 00s

A lot of crazy Gen X city retirees moved in. All the craziest tenants are aged 55-65.

We used to walk through Electchester going to Queens College for Extra curricular activities on the weekends in the late 90s. Now there are a lot of derelicts in the development.

Electchester is full of crazy people. The old timers are going little by little. They don't only go to the union anymore. Van arsdale is turning in his grave.

There are a bunch of crooks running electchester. It's disgusting what they are doing and how they are treating people. You'd only know what goes on behind the scenes.
