I can't suggest a specific one, but why don't you wander through Curry Hill (east 30s near Lexington) and Little India (East 6th-7th Street)?
Please no. Rip offs and bad quality . Go to Jackson heights instead or better yet, Edison NJ. You want to go to a place with many Indians eating. There's always Jackson diner ( despite the name it is an Indian buffet). In Jackson heights.
Even with a Groupon, they wanted $56 for 2. C'mon back then I work in NYC, it is $16 lunch and $23 dinner.
The problem I have with Indian buffets is the lack of good quality proteins. Majority of the stuff is starch which is cheap, then chicken. Hardly lamb, no seafood, and NO BEEF.
Compared say Flaming Grill Buffet you pay $23 and you get everything.

Agreed. Indian buffet food is mostly cheap carbs. Potatoes, rice, bread. If you want delicious grilled meats like tandoori then you have to go non buffet and pay a la carte.

Don’t forget tons of butter.
Not the best food no matter how you look at it. Lots of flavors covering up all sorts of things. Not the most honest food.
