A protected class... you know not of what you speak. Gays are the lowest of the pecking order in civil rights. Even Blacks that certainly know what its like to deal with civil rights don't even stand with them in thier efforts for equal representation. They are so hated it has been challenged to even be included on hate crime legislation. For those of you that "throw up" I bet you would stare if someone said it was 2 lesbians. You may be surprised to find out how many close to you are gay, but because of your open hostility they would never tell you. I have news for you you are surrounded and what they do in their bedroom has no bearing on you. Did someone go too far at a gay pride parade... yes probably, don't go to New Orleans for Mardis Gras you will see heteros doing the same each and every year.
Speedos? don't go to the water parks in Orlando seems every Brit owns a speedo even if they are over 250#. when surrounded by that much fat they look more like a g string. speedos are so out of fashion, you should have called the fashion police for that faux pas they are guilty.
Anyone can go too far and it goes as a human factor , not a gay one. It is similar to people being vulgar at a st. patty's day parade because they are too drunk. How many have relieved themselves on the street? I'm sure all straight people only have sex in their bedroom... never in public....
Let's leave the nonsense of protected classes out of this discussion..and as usual, I will bring it back to reality.
The parade itself, and the acts that you find unsavory, is nothing different than any other excesses of behavior at any parade. Go to the St. Patrick's day parade and the excess of drinking, screaming and fighting (usually at the local bars after the parade) is obscene...go to the PR/DR day parade and the excessive ghetto behavior is..well excessive..go to the Gay parade..and the excessive "gayness" is..excessive! That is the nature of these parades..excess...over the top hysteria that breeds all kinds of silliness and inappropriate behavior.
This is nothing new or unique to the gay parade...they have their excesses like everyone else...so let's not single them out.
Funny you mentioned brits and speedos ; I am irish and am very familiar with them on the beach, at water parks, even in some beaches they are nude. I am ok with that ; no problem at all.
But walking down streets in Manhatten ; now I do have a problem with that. I also have a problem with the St. Patricks day parade ; if you want to drink, at least do it out of uniform.
I actually thought it was funny ; a bit over the top, but funny. and an eye opener for my children.

I totally agree with that. I always thought it looked bad when I would see firemen and NYPD in their formal uniforms getting trashed at bars. It's not a good look. I know it helps them get free drinks and they would be totally pissed if they were not allowed to do it, but still, just looks bad.
I like gays too. But they single themselves out by having a GAY PRIDE parade. It MAKES them stand out. Do we have HETEROSEXUAL PRIDE PARADES?
It's just something to think of. I have a lot of gay friends..but this should occur to one. It's unfortunate that they are singling themselves out due to their sexuality. If they didn't make a big deal of it no one else would. A lot of my gay friends actually agree with this too.
Again, I have NOTHING against gay people..I could care less what hole they wanna poke at and no one else should.

I don't know about that. Gays were singled out long before the pride movement started. It is really tacky to totally go overboard and "gay out" and make a big deal out of it, though - it just reinforces stereotypes and makes them look bad as a group. Most homosexuals would probably agree.
There's no heterosexual pride parade because heterosexuals are the vast majority - as the status quo (in this context), there's no need for something like that.
Obviously gay people have parades to show their pride because they are marginalized and this is a way of overcoming that, if not just internally. Ever notice the teens that never had a sip of drink will go overboard and drink to excess? If you had to keep your love a secret or couldn't express any PDA because you're gay, well you may also find yourself going overboard when you get the opportunity.
May I recommend just staying away on this ONE day of the year and let people who are hurting no one enjoy their day of pride in themselves?
I could care less if they have their fun. Like I said, I don't have an issue with gay people...I'm not here to judge. BUt I have made the observation that if they want it to be considered "normal" ( in their terms) why would they freak out and try to stand out with parades? I say they just act like it's nothing. Don't blink an eye about being gay..and don't have these parades to validate yourself to society..forget what society thinks. I know it's easier said than done though..I know how much it hurts to keep a secret just because you feel your family or society will judge you...anyway..whatever..just a note. Gay people are chills.
