How dangerous is it to live in Queens? My Wife is thinking about going to school in the area and I am trying to figure out if we would be taking our Lives in our hands or not. Any help would be appreciated.

As with all the boroughs, there are very nice parts and not so nice parts. It's generally just fine.

As most people are saying: Where in Queens are you talking about? Queens is huge, 180 sq milies and home to 2.2 million people and some nabes differ like night and day. Just give us a little bit more information, that's all.

Queens is mostly safe. The only neighborhoods that are still consistently considered bad or marginal are Far Rockaway, Queensbridge, Jamaica, and Corona. Also some people think parts of Woodside and Sunnyside are iffy.

I thought Jackson Heights wasnt so nice either.

Anyway, Queens isnt all like in Coming to America lol. Id say its one of the better boroughs in terms of crime, compared to bk and bx

id say that queens in general is quite safe. I would only avoid south bronx as a place to live if I were to move back to the big apple. most likely, id go back to my old hood near the musuem of natural history.

Ditto, avoid Queensbridge, Southside Jamaica, Far Rockaway and parts of Corona.

East Elmhurst, Woodside, and Jackson Heights may have spots here and there.

But Queens isn't really known for crime, like the Bronx is.

It's very dangerous. Come at your own risk.

Sunnyside and Woodside are fine. Better than fine. very good areas to live. Even Corona isn't as "dangerous" as other places in the city. Yes, it's poor, and there are more gangs in the area.
