Every time I travel on business to New York I can not get over the people. So many of them seem to come out of the movies. They are like a charactor in a famous book, TV Show or Play. I see so many typical New Yorkers and just have to laugh.

(I am talking about the old fashioned born and bred New Yorkers, not the immigrants who have overwhelmed the City)

Which of these people are the most typical when you think New Yorker?

Bill O'Reilly
Robert Deniro
Woody Allen
George Costanza (Seinfield)
Or?

a lot of people in movies are based on NYC Stereotypes, especially if the movie is bout NYC

that is why so many people seem to come out of movies to you, but it is actually the other way around

the movie character that displays the most atypical NYer is probably Vinnie from My cousin Vinnie

Overwhelmed, huh? What a nice way of putting it.

Frank Rizzo from the Jerky Boys.

As others have mentioned, it's art imitating life not life imitating art. And the immigrants are part of that NYC art too, by the way.

I LOVE THAT MOVIE! And everytime I go through the state of Alabama, on my way to Destin, Florida, I laugh, and laugh, and laugh. I have seeing it six times!
