Hi everyone,
I'm moving from Italy to NYC in September, I'll work in Norwalk but I'd like to live in the city (a kind of reverse commute ), I don't know anything about New York where should I look for an apartment? (I think I'll be able to spend around 1.000$ per month)

thanks

davide

Well, as you're not able to spend much on an apartment, I don't think, unless you share, you'd going to be able to afford Manhattan. And you'll need a car if you're not in Manhattan because otherwise you're going to have to get on the subway, get to Grand Central Station, get the New Haven line train to Norwalk, which, by itself is going to take some time. And having a car in the city is expensive.

How about living in Connecticut? You can go to the city when you want and will have an easier time trying to find a place to live.

Connecticut is a State(if you didnt know) and its very dull. How about checking out NJ which(also is a state) has tons of urban environment and places with nightlife and plus you will be right next to the city if you live in parts of North Jersey.

Huh? NJ is even farther. It might make sense to look somewhere near the bronx county line.

Look into neighborhoods such as Morris Park, Country Club, and Throggs Neck in the Bronx. These are areas with lots of Italian people, and Morris Park even has a decent number of Italian immigrants.

You can definitely find an apartment in these neighborhoods for $1,000 a month.
