Can anyone recommend a good low-cost medical clinic (preferably in Queens, but anywhere really)? I know about Bellevue, but I have a notion that since they are so big they might be very busy... maybe not?

thanks!

Cool, how does that work? Can I just walk into a hospital and ask if I can see a doctor? I haven't been to a doctor in years.

You just have to ask where is the clinic for out-patients.
You can also call to see if they accept walk-in, usually they do, but not all. Sometimes clinic is in a side building, a smaller building and not in the main building(but others have them in the main building.)
Again each hospital is different, you must call or visit the hospital.

Just remember, as a non-urgent case (I'm assuming it's not urgent), even with the walk-in clinics for non-emergencies, you're going to be waiting a while to see someone. And you'll be billed.

In my old neighborhood in Brooklyn there was a Treat and Release medical center. It was first come, first served. Maybe there is a place like that in Queens. I would avoid Bellevue if I were you.

If someone is REALLY ill, Bellevue is a GREAT place to be. They have what is probably the BEST emergency room in the city. If you're not really ill, you'll have a long wait, because Bellevue is a tertiary care/referral center for the city.

But he/she's not really ill. If you get shot, stabbed, fall off a building or have something severed, Bellevue is the place to be. If you just want to see a doctor it should be your last resort.
