Viralmd - Thanks for the info!

Seems like it will be very hard in NYC once high school comes around even if they do get in. The commute is long from UES!

NYC is a great city! Nothing else quite like it..wish the public school system was easier to work with.

Hello I am planning to move to Upper Easts Side with my soon 4 years old, how are the public PRE-Ks , elementary schools in this area?
Do I have to go private, in this case, any suggestion pf any descent, not too expensive private school in this neighborhood?
Thank you

There are no public Pre-Ks in the NYC public school system, at least in Manhattan.

Most, if not all, of the good nursery schools have waiting lists and admission is highly competitive.

I heard Charter Schools are good, almost like private. You should check them out.

You can't lump charter schools together like that--each is a discretely run school.
