I'll be attending an acting program during the Summer at William Esper Studio. If I want, I can room with a friend in Manhattan for $850 a month. I would basically be sleeping on a couch. So, I'm wondering...should I jump all over this or are there better opportunities out there for someone looking for Summer housing? I wouldn't mind rooming with more than one person if necessary.
I'm also hoping to find a job so I can stay at least for two years in NYC and complete the entire program. Doing the Summer program is just a way of getting into the city, meeting people, and looking for work. I have 6,000 dollars so far. I know this isn't the greatest amount. But is it workable?
Sleeping on a couch for 850 is a con unless it is a futon, or convertible
There are people who about $850 for a large bedroom in northern manhattan, a share of course, but they get their own bed and plenty of space for drawers, and desk
Try finding a sublettor
6K is not enough, but for the best bang for your buck closest to the areas you want to be in is Northern Manhattan like Washington Heights, Morningside Heights, and the Ridgewood, Maspeth, Middle Village Area of Queens, or the south bronx, or over the river in DIRTY JERZ
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. It looks like a couch will be my bed for the summer. It's worth it. I consider NYC my home. I should have been born there.
You can always set up a blow up bed every night if the couch is lumpy (or smelly). They are really comfy.
Have fun, MethodActorKeith!
