Only time will tell. But I a sure the areas around Bland & Pomonok will not get better than they are at this point. I have not been by Bland in years but not sure I would even consider (unless was during the hours of 9-5) wanting to go there at night. Especially walking to it. I am sure if you drive they have safe secure parking on-site.

Pomonok is not near 7 train at all. Bland is walking distance to it. Pomonok is across from Queens College if that helps you with location

I never remember a housing project next to Queens College.

Is it new?

I just looked it up. I never had an issue there, but i do agree I wouldn't walk there once the sun goes down.

Same one with the Flushing one. Never had an issue but wouldn't walk there at night unless inside a car. Is it really that bad? It's across the street from a huge shopping center.

Even with that new shopping center it does not matter. They can't change & kick out the Bland projects that will still be there.

I guess they provide enough security on-site so people will come there to shop. Pretty much probably anyone that plans to go there & has $ knows to watch out for problems. They also probably park in their secure garage & do not walk the streets after shopping with their goodies. Have not been there & don't plan to but I am sure someone who has been there (like above poster) can give better insight. Like poster already said...hell yeah. That pretty much answers your question.

I'm in complete shock because the area is so busy with tons of people walking around. I just can't imagine anyone trying to pull some nonsense with witnesses all around.

Been there at all different hours. Popular place to take a girl on a date is right in front of the bland housing projects is a karaoke place. While drunk I go to the Chinese BBQ joint next door that closes at 3am. I haven't had any issues. In the morning, there is Chinese construction workers who look to get hired in front of bland projects (10-20 of them waiting outside).

I am more concern with bad drivers in the area, seen a couple of accidents in the area. Whether it is the spoiled rich kid driving 100 MPH through the area at night or the traffic light between bland projects and mall given the right away to both walking pedestrian and driver.

The locals I know use to label the area (bland housing projects) as a danger zone 2-3 years ago, but it has changed a lot since the new developments (gentrification of the area). They just finished building one square Fulton next to bland housing projects so there will be even more affluent people living next to the projects.

I guess that the new rich immigrants have bought up the ghetto trouble makers to keep them fed and drugged inside the bland house so the streets are very clear of ghetto animals as one would expect to encounter in many other project areas....lol

I have always been impressed by how calm the bland house seems, which defies the stereotype I had on nyha houses. I guess the roughness of those residents got diluted out by the surrounding Asian culture.

One thing I noticed that the low crime rate among Asian enclaves is probably attributable to the fact that Asians in General do not take street non sense and will fight for their own justice until they drop if it is at individual levels. Not all of them are like this, but plenty to make thugs think twice before they act like animals.
