Meat Packing District or a private club/ lounge

Some bartenders down there make 1,000-1,500 a night on tips a night. An associate if mine who was laid off from his corporate job make 70,000 a year plus tips.

70k PLUS tips?
I don't think so.
Maybe 70k total.
....and that might be a stretch. Possible, I'm not saying 70k is impossible...but it ain't the norm either.

How difficult is it to get started bartending in NYC? My son is 24 and doesn't have any experience with it but he's interested in getting started. Any tips?

Most places want you to split your tips so you can geat a BIG tip but most places want you to split it with the rest of the bar staff. May want to keep that in mind.

I work in a major nightclub on the strip here in Vegas.
Not all of the servers do 'extra' things for a tip.
Sure..some do...but most don't.

I mean...with a 20-24% gratuity mandatory, they kinda don't have to.
kinda....

While I don't understand what your trying to say in that last post, you'll notice I said that not everybody does it.
Indeed, some do. Not most. Some.
And yeah...I do know a few that do.
