Hi i will be in NY and will be meeting with a number of Senior Employees from Large companies. What are the best places for dinner, lunches etc? Work will be picking up the tab so no worries in terms of budget. Thanks

Balthazar on Spring Street is fun for lunch. Pricey but wonderful bistro fare.

You really should get a copy of the Zagat guide - worth every penny.

My boss if one of the most prominent corporate attorneys in the city. This is his list of "standard" restaurants for client meals. Keep in mind, he frequently spend $300 on lunch. These are the places where Goldman Sachs/hedge fund types eat.

Le Bernardin
Sushi Yasuda
Bobby Vans
Del Friscos
11 Madison Park
Gramercy Tavern
Gotham Grill

To the above posts, which have many restaurants that I'd also recommend, I would add:

Daniel
Felidia
For lunch, the Grill Room at the Four Seasons
Asiate
Trattoria dell'Arte
Fresco

Great thanks for this. I am looking forward to lots of different lunches/ dinners. All meetings are with prominent brokers, hedge funds etc so any more suggestions for popular places with these kind of people would be great! $300pp (excluding wine) is well within the budget and it wont be an issue if the bill came to much higher than this.

If in a sales role, would be cautious about cost of any meals (esp wines) vs profitability (and ethos re: lavish meals) of clients....your bosses and your smarter clients know ultimately the costs are passed through, so use judgment to protect own career

For lunch, FourSeasons, JeanGeorges, and LeBernardin are arguably most powerful spots, esp for entertainment and finance industries

For dinner, Daniel seems to dominate, esp for hedge fund, PE, and IB crowd (most of whom aren't as big on the lunch thing as the entertainment guys)

But with any of these high-powered restaurants, would realize they have many regulars (guys who dine there several times/wk) who spend lavishly on wine (which dominates profitability for any restaurant), so would intro self to maitre'd in advance if hope to obtain a decent table and better service

These dining spots tend to attract a crowd of regulars from Manhattan, SiliconValley, BevHills, Chic, Dall/Hou, Lond, etc....cosmopolitan places but likely underwhelming expces for those who aren't pre-introduced to maitre'd by some regular or a plugged-in concierge at a major hotel
