Hi, I have a serious problem and I am hoping someone could guide me. I bought a house with a commercial space on the first floor. I run my own nutritional health care center on this space and I also sell products. For the last 3 years I have been fined by the buidling department of new york for not havig a C of O. I had no idea that when I purchased the place no C of O was given. I even had a lawyer present to help me during the process and he never informed me about this necessity. I blame myself for not conducting research. Anyhow, I have tried to obtain a C of O that will allow me to run my clinic and sell my product, however, the building department has rejected my offerings saying that i could only have a retail store or a clinic but not both, due to my neighborhood, can someone shed some information on this. please!!!!

your building is not in a zone that allows community facilities, which is your health care center. you can only use it for retail, as in selling your products.
