That is wonderful, isn't it? A few years ago, the Parks Conservancy put out a similar map. We don't give a lot of thought to our local geography.

Along those lines, a trivia question: what is the only actual river flowing within the borders of New York City? (The envelope, please...it's the Bronx River).

Before someone brings up the East and Harlem rivers... they are not actually rivers. They are straits.

Also, the Hudson is not a river. It's an estuary.

I understood that the East River is an estuary. The Hudson is a river--but it is also a salt-water estuary all the way up to Troy.
