People who are not sanitation workers don't realize that picking up garage for 20 years takes a toll on the body. Many people retire because they have to.
I bought back 3 years from my military. but unless you want to retire and get another job i would advise doing 25 years.. Most people who retire after 20 regret not doing the 25.... Dont think you can retire at 18 years and live the high life . At 25 years they add your longevity time into your pension... makes a difference. I am going for 25 and with my military time its like 28 yrs. (i have 12 yrs complete)
Most people u talk to are going to say i am doing 20 and out... but when the time comes and you see your numbers you might decide different if you dont have your stuff together... or if you have a wife that doesnt work .

MED = Medical Done

If anyone has any insight on my situation please let me know. List # 42X. Was called in 08' but just started a job in finance. Wanted to pursue that. As you all know economy and country all went to ish. I am still employed there but am in the same position with no job security. I decided Id rather take the Sanman job for great benefits, security, pension etc. I Went to DCAS building myself on 8/8/11 to be reinistated on list. They I recieved a letter dated 8/18 I am back on the list. Still have not recieved any letter for orientation or anything else. I feel I def got this in on time for Oct class but people in HR say when Sanitation request new list I will be on that one. then another person says that I might not be on till Nov. Finally another person says I might not be called until next year. Whats up with that?

That means you did not get reinstated in time for the list sanitation pulled from dcas for elegible candidates. They probably wont pull another list till after the November class for the 7th class if that even happens. This only from what i heard and or IMO.
I think lots of people overlook that fact. That was posted here long ago, that the longevity is not counted until you hit 25 years, so why people would leave after 20 is beyond me, they are giving away their own money. They hear "20 years" & don't bother reading the fine print. Yeah, you CAN retire after 20 years, but not using the salary you actually made for the last 5. because the 15 & 20 year increases only count toward the pension after 25 years.
Some people may have prior service from another agency that counts after the 20 yrs. Myself for example, I have 11 yrs prior from another agency. 20+ 11= 31 yrs total service which helps raise my pension to its max, which I think is 65% give or take.
