For those who live near the Cooperstown/Oneonta area, what is the best option for medical care of a serious nature (heart, cancer) in that area? I see there is a hospital in Cooperstown and also one in Oneonta. Are they adequate. Or do people seek medical care in another city? It doesn't look like there is anything close by. Albany looks to be about 70 miles away. Syracuse looks approximately 90 miles away.

Utica has Faxton and St. Elizabeth's too. Schenectady and Binghamton aren't too far away either.

According to Mapquest, Schenectady is about 60 miles from Cooperstown and outside of Utica, looks to be the closest city with a good hospital. From what I am seeing on the web, Ellis Hospital looks like it is very good. Just wanted to get an idea where people in that area generally go for medical care of a more serious nature.
