Can anyone tell me about the Granville area? It is one of the areas that I am considering in my relocation. Population size, city government, nearby hospital, shopping, etc.

Washington County has very high property taxes due to the ongoing economic decline.

I had a friend there that I visited a few times, but it was years ago. It was small as I recall, with some beautiful homes, too. Beautiful scenery. She went to Rutland for shopping, etc.. Good for winter sports.

It is a very small, quaint town. A bit depressed. For shopping you would have to travel.

Granville is more than a little depressing to me. Very sad vibe, very neglected air about the place. There are better choices, Greenwich, Cambridge, Salem- all in the same county.

Granville is a small town. It depends on what you are looking for I grew up here, moved away and then moved back to raise my children it is really a safe environment for children shopping can be a pain but you are in between major ski resorts both in ny and vt 45 minutes away from each along with 40 min from area hospitals if you would like to know more let me know

I'm originally from the town Whitehall, which is 10 minutes north of Granville. Granville is small and quite "countryish." They do have a downtown that has a few local restaurants, a big grocery store, movie rentals and banks. If you drive 20-30 minutes south, you hit Queensbury and Glens Falls, which is your big commercial area, with all of the shopping you need, including a mall and the large and recently renovated Glens Falls Hospital (you should check it out, it is VERY nice!). You could also go north into Vermont about 40 minutes and hit a town called Rutland, which is like Queensbury in shopping and venues. I live in Southern Maryland right now and wish I could move back....

My wife and I are currently in the process of buying property in Granville. We think it is delightful.
