We are building a home in Woodbury Junction. Has anyone gone through the selection process?

I've gone through the building and selection process. I closed last September. He promised 3 months but it was more like 4 to be honest. Haven't paid taxes yet. I built the Grisham 1 model with an added fifth bedroom downstairs. Feel free to ask me anything!

Thanks for replying. We're moving from Staten Island, and looking forward to living in WJ. Did you do any upgrades? How do you like the area? Have any kids?

We did do a few upgrades here and there. We upgraded to a gas fireplace. We put in a shower in the downstairs bathroom. We did the 9 foot basement ceilings. We upgraded our kitchen sink and faucet. We actually bumped out our kitchen by 2 feet and our great room by 2 feet. We upgraded the carpet padding. We upgraded to do a tile accent border in the master bath. Those were the only things I could think of. We didn't do any major upgrades like kitchen cabinets or hardwood floors because those upgrades were insanely expensive. We love the area. Every store you could want is right there, and if it's not there it's such an easy drive to Middletown or to Rockland County. We don't have any kids, but we live on a cul-de-sac where there are kids from all over the development riding bikes and playing in the streets, it's a really nice family feeling to the whole place.

I know the Grisham model is a great looking model. We were thinking of doing the same upgrades as far as the fireplace and ceilings are concerned. So happy to hear that it's a nice place to live. Did you have Theresa as your agent and did you get to meet the builder during the whole process? We're going to be there on 8/5 for the selection process, would live to meet

I am considering moving into woodbury and would like some information, besides the spin I can get from real estate agents.

1. Its my pregnant wife, 1 1/2 old daughter, and I, so is this a family friendly neighborhood?
2. how many homes are occupied?
3. is there a good neighborly presence? in our current development we bbq with the neighbors and our kids play with each other. Is that what WJ is like?
4. I will be commuting to midtown for work. Are there any other commuters in the development?
5. recreation center. I understand the 55+ section has a rec center. Is there one planned for the family section?

Thanks so much.

We are also a young family looking to move to Woodbury/Monroe area. We visited Woodbury Junction and much of it still seems to be under construction and not occupied. Could any one please share some inputs regarding the build quality, daycare in the area, commute to Manhantan, and whether we should be concerned about KJ ? Thanks a lot.

bdyy, will you be commuting to manhattan from Orange? I took a job in midtown east so I've looked into the commute. Looks like 1hr 10 - 1hr 25 door to door from Monroe (specifically WJ) to my office via the shortline bus. It goes from park and ride on rt 17 to port authority. The ride itself is approximately one hour then add on a couple minutes to drive to park and ride and then whatever distance to your office on manhattan. 1 1/2 is the max I think I can bear for a commute so I'm excited that the commute comes under that, albeit barely, but I can make it work - I like the Monroe area too much.

Thankyou montydean for sharing the info. I don’t have to commute daily right now butmay very likely have to do that if I change job, so commute time is a major consideration.I heard they planned to build a recreation center for the family section by endof 2014. I like the area but has somereservations about KJ and school performance

Hi!
We are in the process of building our home. We also have children and the many times I've visited it seems very family friendly. We love the area and the builder works with you to a point.
