I have heard two pronunciations since moving to NY, and I don't know which is correct: Suf-fern or Suf-frun.

Yep, Suf-fern is the pronunciation that people I know from the area use.

come on now people, it's Suffren, like we're sufferen in Suffren, that's how we said it in the 60's

Well I grew up there in the 50s and 60s, and my mother lived there since 1928, and we pronounced it Suf-fern.

It really depend on how you enunciate words. I say it Suf-frun, I am from the county and my wife is from Suffren, I also say ant not ont for aunt.

Yep! Everytime I hear someone else say it, a Looney Tunes pops into my head. Suffern Succatash!
