Apartment Rentals/Elementary Schools in Potsdam, NY (Watertown, Plattsburgh: apartments, home)

Hello,

We will move to the Potsdam area due to the new job in the university. Information here in City-Data.com was very useful, but I would appreciate your additional advice on the followings:

**I have a 9-year old daughter and my wife is not working.
**I think that I may go to school twice or three times a week.

*There are a couple of towns, villages, cities near Potsdam such as Canton, Massena, Plattsburgh, Watertown. Are they a better place than Potsdam in terms of housing options(primarily, rentals), school districts, infrastructures etc.. Is this a good idea to live in places like Watertown or Plattsburgh which is somewhat distant from Potsdam?

*Best places for getting info for home or apartment rentals. I got News & Info for Potsdam, Massena, Ogdensburg, Canton, Gouverneur & St. Lawrence County, NY | NorthCountryNow, any other websites?

*Areas or apartments you would like recommend for family with an elementary school kid.

Plattsburgh and Watertown aren’t that close to Potsdam. The only other place listed that is reasonable daily commute/drive is Canton.

Norwood-Norfolk Central School District - USA.comâ„¢ (for district boundary purposes)

Home (pronounced mad-rid, not like the city in Spain)
Madrid-Waddington Central School District - USA.comâ„¢

Parishville-Hopkinton Central School
Parishville-Hopkinton Central School District - USA.comâ„¢

Out of these 3, I’d pick Norwood-Norfolk(home of the Flyers. Hence, the wings on the logo.). However, I’d look into Potsdam or Canton first.

I hope others chime in with more specifics.
