Movin' from Pittsburgh, eh? Yunz should consider Batavia 'ere, the largest tahn between da Buff and Rochester. Batavia has abaht 10,000 people, is a nice tahn along the lines of Butler abaht 40 miles from Buffalo and mebbe 35 from Rochester. Get ready for some friendly teasing by Bills fans when wearing Steelers apparel!!

I would strongly consider a suburb on the eastern edge of buffalo or, better yet, western edge of Rochester. Especially if you have kids, but even if not, at least then you can feel you live in one city or the other and not some half way house in which there is nothing to do. If you're in a western suburb of Rochester, the commute to Buffalo will be tolerable.

My husband has been commuting to Buffalo from Rochester (Greece) for almost 7 years now (we are both in healthcare in the respective cities). I am originally from the buffalo area and cannot say enough positive things about both cities (my husband feels the same way and he is from Minnesota). After considering many options we are going to be building our dream home in Newfane (north of Lockport). Although it is not technically "in-between" we have considered many different factors other than the shortest distance/commute time for each.

That is correct...Batavia would be the "city" right in the middle of Buffalo and Rochester. I grew up there, and now live in Orlando. As a child I thought it was small and boring...but now as an adult I long to move back to the area. Batavia has grown alot over the last several years. They now have a Home Depot, BJ's wholesale and the Walmart is turning into a "super store". I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Do you want to live in a big city? The nice thing about Batavia is that it is right between 2 larger cities...you get the best of both places. Take a look at MYGenesee.com. Good luck to you.

Friendly teasing? Buffalo fans will throw stuff at you. We attened a buffalo bills vs Pittsburgh Steelers game at Three Rivers Many years ago, the buffalo fans came ready to fight. As far as football, Pittsburgh is awsome.

I miss them. The Carolina Panthers fans are nothing compared to Diehard Northern Fans.

I doubt Attica is the name that comes to mind when you are thinking of a place you want to live...unless you are a convict who likes prison riots.
