Can someone please answer one question for me? I am trying to find the best method to obtain high speed internet access in SW Chautauqua County in the area of Sherman/Mina. Is cable available in the rural areas there? Anyone have experience with sattellite in that area? Or is the best bet a wireless card? Thanks, Stefanie
Hi, I don't live in Sherman but know the area. Normally DSL exists within a few miles a village or town, I wouldn't expect it is available outside of the village. I would recommend satellite, it's pretty economical if you get the TV, phone, and internet bundle. And Sherman being on a high plateau and not heavily wooded, satellite should be ideal. I have satellite TV in a worst case location, very remote, hilly, heavily wooded, and almost as snowy as Sherman... the dish is 500ft from the house and despite all this, it's very reliable. I can recommend someone by private message (he installed mine and I was impressed).
Thanks, my lot is 1/2 wooded and half field, but I think it is too far from town for DSL, from what i have been told. We are going to be actually building inside the woods so I am imagining the dish would have to be very cloe to the road in order to get exposure to the SW sky looking back towards the woods.
