Hmmm, at 33...life was good then, but I think things have gotten sooooo much better in the last 2yrs (I'm 38 now). I can only see it getting better too, so I'm looking forward to the next few years. Actually, the hardest part of our lives is behind us, in my opinion.

Getting old is scary. I never really gave it much thought until I finished school. I like where I'm at now, I can't imagine life at 30. 60 is even scarier. I'm not prepared to be a grandpa

The 2 happiest-age periods of my life for me personally were from when I was 16-18, and then also later on when I was 22-25. Younger than 16 and older than 25 were not-so-good years, overall for me though...

Actually, yes. When I was 33, I met my now ex-wife, felt like I was getting ahead careerwise, and took the best vacation of my life. All downhill from there.

It makes sense to me that it would be the "average" age. Of course there will be people on both sides which is what makes it an average. I think it makes sense because it's when most people start accepting themselves, loving themselves even and embracing the road their on. I am not there yet (26) but I think I get closer to the accepting/happiness each year. Many of my good friends are 5-10 years older than me and I have seen how they tend to find more peace around that age. It could also be an age of major discontent if, due to some tragedy or circumstance, you find your self on exactly the opposite path you wanted to be on... time for a course correction! This may be why some people reach it later than others. I know this much:

there are not really any "good old days" for me to look back on and say they were the highlight. I have a good deal of pain/regret/shame from early childhood on that makes all the memories bitter-sweet so I hope it does keep getting better!

I'll be 33 in a few years, so I hope so! Ideally, I'll be engaged or married by then. Or at least just not having the dating issues that I have now.

You know when I was younger I thought along these same lines.

Now that I'm older, you could not pay me to go back to my teens/20's. It wasn't awful back then, but life is so much fuller and more enjoyable now.

At 33:

1) Everyone seemed to be freaking out about Y2K...crazy...
2) Got a new job, got health insurance, had a steady check...very nice
3) 2 months before my 34th birthday, I found out I had breast cancer...the rest of the year just kind of blurred by...
4) Ups and downs throughout life, but I'd have to say, I'm really loving being my age now...although when other people think I'm old, I'm shocked that they're talking about me because no way in H-E-double hockey sticks do I feel old!
5) I think we're all the same and also so different that this is a bit of wild card on the age of happiness.
