Can't you go to the clerk of court's office and do the papers yourself? it should be a few simple pages you can hand fill out or do on line or type.

If she's in NY, she can file and do the whole thing Pro Se. The fee for an index number is about $200 and there may be some other small fees involved. All in all, it shouldn't cost any more than $350.

She can get all the paperwork on the NYS Unified Court System website. It's very simple and all the papers are already done and all she has to do is to fill in the blanks. She can also get the packet at the courthouse (probably in the law library).

It's not a quick process, though. Mine took about 6 months and we had no property or anything to divide up. We have one child but all child custody and support issues were agreed to so there was no court intervention needed there.

If she doesn't want to do it, check out your local courts in FL and see if there is a do-it-yourself packet that you can use.

In the meantime, get your original marriage license if you don't have it because you may need it when you file.

I did quick search for the words "florida divorce pro se" and got this:
Pro Se Information - Family Forms - Brevard County, Florida - Clerk of the Court
There ought to be plenty more similar resources^ for whatever county OP is in.

My divorce was relatively inexpensive, because VT is a no-fault state and there were no assets, debts, property (nor offspring) to divide-
also, we had no disagreements about terms of the divorce.
It cost $100 to file the forms at court, plus 6 months wait (proving we each had maintained separate households/addresses) for it to be final.

There were do-it-yourself resources available in my community from non-profit organizations, because I'm poor enough to qualify for that assistance,
but neither of us had lawyers bc. they were unnecessary for our situation.

I even called a lawyer's office during the early stages to make sure it wouldn't be a problem
(that I wasn't getting in over my head) and was told I didn't need their services-I appreciated the honesty.

Go to your local District Court and go to the Civil not the criminal Clerk of Court. Ask for the papers that you'll need to file for an "Uncontested" divorce. While you are there, ask to check on papers that should have been filed by your divorce attorney...maybe it was a mix up...Anyway....you can get the papers...get them done, have your ex sign...for a fee file them. Then you are waiting for a judge to sign them. However...if you smooze the Clerks...and share your experience, they could possibly take pity of you and it may expedite the judge's signature. Good luck
