They chose to have that baby and it seems to have been the right choice for them.
You are very right that a lot of people do not "understand" that Pro-choice means allowing Choices.

I wouldn't feel the least bit guilty and I literally LAUGHED when I saw some of the comments suggesting you should apologize to the child!

I think if you have been carrying around guilt all these years it's a sign of some other problem you have. I already know what the posters problem are, but I digress.

Based on the thread title alone, I assumed you had pushed them to have an abortion, they followed through with it, and now you feel bad. That sort of guilt makes sense.

But based on the actual content of the post, it doesn't make sense to harbor any guilt over offering up information to make an informed choice.

Agreed. I thought the same thing at first!

Honestly, my family (including myself) encouraged my sister to have an abortion because she was 16 and had big dreams of moving to NYC and possibly going to college. She decided to keep my nephew and there were a few times I felt guilty but at the same time my parents ended up raising him until just this year when he turned 10. Now, my sister is married and better off financially, but starting out it was my parents paying for everything and basically taking care of him while my sister tried to live a normal teen/early 20s lifestyle.

Don't let it eat at you. You were being a good friend by providing options. I love my nephew SO much and he has made our lives 10x better because he is in it, but she was not ready at 16 to be a Mom. I still believe that to this day.

Why should anyone apologise when they in fact did nothing wrong?

Are apologies that empty and meaningless to you that you just flutter them about like conffetti?
