Well that's not up to you. As a previous poster said, respond to the RSVP according to your whim but don't over analyze the issue and make a song and a dance about something so simple. I'm assuming you're a legal adult but your reaction does seem rather immature.

Wow. Most people are flattered to receive an invitation. ("invite" is a verb)

Perhaps you should let these people know that you're apparently offended by the mere idea that they want to include you in such an important event. They might be under the mistaken impression that you are friends, and you would be doing them a favor to let them know not to waste any more time or energy on you.

Or "invite" is a slightly slangy noun for an invitation. But, I like this sentiment, it's a little long to wear on a badge for everyday use but you're onto something.

I would be amazed if you have any friends.

I admit the OP's original assertion about being invited on a race-based issue was odd, but haven't we all gotten a wedding invitation that made us scratch our head?

Maybe they like you and consider you a friend. Of all the things to get upset about...

I didn't say you couldn't decline. In fact, my first post said, "Decide if you want to go, and let them know."

The whole point of an invitation is that attending is YOUR CHOICE.

Do what you want, but don't blame the hosts for problems YOU project onto them.
I think this must be one of I Am Retired's whacko family.

Very doubtful. Putting on a wedding can be pretty pricey...most folks don't invite make-weights because it's just one more warm body to feed at the reception.

Like others have suggested...I would broadcast your distaste of being invited to events to all your co-workers, associates and friends. That should make your life easier all the way around.

It might be his son, who is wearing jeans to work. Remember he was so upset at him and had to rant about how unprofessional for professionals to wear jeans to work? And to roll their sleeves like the "low class UPS guy"
