No. Not really. Mom will call. The kids might give me a small gift or card but nothing much to speak of.

Compete gamut from nothing to major party. This year my birthday falls on a Sunday so I'm giving a party.

Honestly, no. Just another day. Sept. 12th

Nobody in my immediate family makes a huge deal of b-days. Only thing is we wish one another "Happy b-day." Though I try to get my parents a gift for their b-day, but there's no partying or anything.

I used to do stuff when I was a kid. I may have a sleepover, and cake. Same with my brother. A b-day was more exciting as a kid. Now, there's only a few things I get excited about, and my b-day isn't one of them. lol

Yeah I generally take the day off from work (if on a work day), go out and enjoy myself.

Tomorrow I will go to a great lunch with my oldest friend...and
I get picked up and can get anything I want (I love she is a millionaire now!).
(And the one that paid off my $100,000 mortgage a couple years ago.)
Fun, care free day.

Then, lunch all week with my other friends opening presents.
So....yes.

I didn't read through all the pages of responses. I just wanted to say that it sounds like you are dealing with depression. When you post on a board like this that your birthday is just a "reminder of being born, the worst that has happened to me" it sounds like you are crying out for help.
Someone may have suggested this and it bears repeating if so.....
Please get in touch with a therapist. Although you may get some support and encouragement from other posters, a trained professional will help you more than any of us can. Your life is a gift! I don't know what happened to you and why you feel the way you do about yourself. I can assure you that your thinking can be turned and you will have reason to celebrate every day you are alive--and not just on your birthday!

Absolutely!

My birthday is the kickoff celebration for our annual vacation. Sometimes we go out with friends to a steakhouse. Next day we pack up the car and take off.

Last year it was delayed a week due to unavoidable circumstances. This year will be our fourth road trip to Arizona, searching for a new place to call home.
