Let's say in the car it's a guy with a girl he's been dating for a good while (years). The guy picks up his elderly mother (almost 80 years old but still in pretty good shape with no physical disabilities) to take a hour trip. Does the girlfriend offer the front seat to the guy's mom or does she let the mom sit in the back seat? No, these are not bucket seats.

What is your opinion?

I would definitely let the mom sit up front with her son.

Mom gets to sit wherever she's most comfortable.

Mom goes in front, not because she's Mom, but because she's pushing 80.

Even if they were giving an elderly neighbor a ride, she/he goes in the front (or wherever she/he is most comfortable).

And, if the GF is pissed off that means she is not a keeper. Unless, the GF has physical challenges, then she gets to sit wherever she is most comfortable.

In the front for mom. With my mother that meant I would have liked to tie her to the hood most of the time.

Yep... and that could be the front or the back.

Could be.

My mom would gladly take the front, while my MIL, the ultimate martyr, would ride on the hump in the middle of the back seat. She would rather PUSH the car than make someone switch seats.

I would always OFFER the front.
