Let's say your BF/GF/spouse had a tiring Saturday morning and has lain down for a nap. You go to Costco to fetch your loved one more of the organic orange juice he or she loves, plus a few other things. When you return, you unload your purchases and walk quietly upstairs to check.

Only you find him or her in a pool of blood, lifeless. You call 911.

It's only later that in your dazed condition you realize you are a suspect. The police question you, making it clear they don't believe your story. You know there are some friends and family that will support you unconditionally, but you also know there are some who might not.

Who would think you'd done it?

This is actually an interesting question.

I don't think anyone would think I'd done it.
I'm insanely law-abiding.
Plus there's no controversy with my spouse.
Plus they know I'm not an idiot who would do it in a way that'd be so obvious.
Plus I'd have a Costco receipt, my car'd probably be GPSable, etc.

No one who knows me would think I did it because they all know how seriously claustrophobic I am.

We'll be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary this year. I'm pretty sure people would give me the benefit of the doubt.

Not to jinx your anniversary or imply you'd be a party to foul play, but there are a couple of threads in the Retirement subforum about long-married people who simply could not stand each other's company any more.

Sure! It was just an idle question that occurred to me...as I was driving over to Costco.

I know three people who would probably believe I'd done it. None of them have ever forgiven me for making DH happy.

That is what I was thinking as well. Even if no one I knew went to Costco with me, I'd still have the receipt showing the exact time I left the store. Plus there would be camera's in the store showing when I got there and traffic camera's showing the time I went and came back.
