I just came back from the hospital and they took him out of the coma for a while to check his breathing. Apparently he can breathe on his own without any mechanical help. At least the oxygen levels on his blood were normal while breathing for himself.
It's a little bit of good news but it's still hard to say if he has any major brain injuries from the time he was deprived of oxygen.
They'll do more checking later this week (his reactions and movements to stimulus, etc).
P.S. My mother was once again washed in tears of course...

Fingers crossed for him.
Hope he has a successful recovery and he, you, and the rest of your family go on to live a long, happy life together.
Hopefully, you and your mother can take some small measure of solace in knowing that your post is being read and people will be deeply moved by what you have openly shared with them. May your family find the inner peace that is needed during such troubled times.
Very well said.
OP, I am so sorry your family is going through this, so sorry.
I don't know you, internet stranger, but please accept my deepest sympathies, and condolences. Having gone through a very similar circumstance I know how hard it is, and how impossible it is to understand.
