If people have committed to attend, they really should as I'm sure a lot of planning is involved in reunions.
My class had under forty people in it. A third of the graduates from the class attended our twenty-year reunion a couple of years ago. I thought that seemed to be a pretty good turnout. All I know about this comes from the pictures and messages sent to me by my old classmates
I've yet to attend any of my high school reunions myself due to living a far distance away. I hope to go to one some day. I had actually planned on making the trip to my twenty-year reunion, but I was caring for my son who had just been diagnosed with a terminal illness during the previous month. You'd probably find many others who would like to attend, but cannot for one reason or another.
When I went to our 20th year reunion they had a display of pictures of deceased classmates and people just talked about their memories of them.
Not exactly what I had in mind.
Our 50th comes up next year. Guess I'll go and see if they have a picture of me already for the table.
My 20-year reunion would have been last year but I was not even notified. Kind of hard to get people to attend if you don't really go about notifying them. I went to a small/quirky middle school that somehow managed to notify me of my 25th reunion via USPS last month, so I am apparently not so stealth that I cannot be found! I am not sure if I would have attended had I been notified since I am not in town and while it is only a drive away, I'm not sure I would have wanted to go.
I know the 10th was at some really odd time of year like during the Thanksgiving weekend or something and I did not attend that either. I was part of a smaller program and I remember people were discussing a smaller/less formal reunion for that group during a more acceptable date, but I am not sure it ended up happening.
I think a decent number showed up to my 10th high school reunion. I was going to...even bought a ticket...but then didn't feel like going at the last minute.
More than 2/3 of the people in my high school class attended the 10-year reunion, although I wasn't among them. But this is the best high school in the country, so it wasn't a surprise.
I have no idea if my class even had a 10 year reunion. I was not notified. I would not have gone anyway. I have no intention to attend any high school reunions.
I'm not sure what the effect of social media is on the high school reunion. There is no substitute for the in person experience.
My 30 yr is coming up soon and I don't plan on going. I haven't been to any of them. Not my thing and FB is enough of a conduit to the past for me.
