Another thing that a lot of people tend to look to NC for is their colleges, as many good colleges are in the state and if you live in state, price was somewhat more reasonable that other states, apparently that is changing -

Like everything else these days, the richer are getting richer and those children are the ones getting the education and the poor getting poorer, even if one takes out a loan, when they graduate, it's like a mini mortgage.

When I lived in Greenville NC, I knew many kids who studying there from NJ, NY and CT. They said the out of state tuition at ECU was cheaper than the in-state tuition back home.

^And it's for that very reason that the UNC system schools all have a cap on the number of out-of-state students they'll allow.
