My husband and I will be moving to Pope next summer. We hope we can get into military housing, but in case we can't or decide we would rather not, I was hoping I could find out commute times from others in the area. Based on what I've read in the forums, Fayetteville is out and Sanford and the Aberdeen/Pinehurst/SP look like good places to live. Can anyone tell me the commute times to those areas from Pope? I appreciate the information!

Don't discount Cumberland County. There are many nice safe places to choose from. You don't have to live 'In" the city. I lived in Hope Mills while I was stationed at Pope. I live in Grays Creek now that I am retired.

I would count on 30-45 minutes from Sanford. Southern Pines/ Aberdeen maybe be 15 minutes longer.

Thanks! I'll check out Hope Mills. This is my first PCS move, so I'm quite nervous about the whole thing.

Thanks! I read that Eastover was a good one. This forum is great. I've learned a lot about an area that I have yet to see. Thanks for all the info here and in other threads.
