School cuts loom unless legislators act :: WRAL.com

It is not hopeful......

Last edited by Green Irish Eyes; 03-19-2012 at 06:58 PM.. Reason: The referenced article discusses more than Triangle-area schools, so I've moved the thread to the general NC forum.

And perhaps those of us who don't know what "MC schools" are could be enlightened?

Probably just a typo? But hey, why not roll with it?

NC schools will be looking for some creative ways to whack $1million from budgets that are already dangerously lean. No one in government wants to find a solution other than CUT funding for education. At some point the cutting is going to hit an artery and education will be history.
We need to seriously look at what we are spending our taxes on. The politicians salaries are outrageous--over $100K for 3-4 months of work? Lifetime benefits and nearly 60% retirement after 1 or two terms? The amount of money being taken in by government should be sufficient to operate the programs people need to be productive citizens of their communities.

You don't have to make stuff up to make a point.

Try 80% after 20 years. And nothing for less than five years. And that's for federal employees - Congress and Senate - not the state politicians.

NC General Assembly members (the ones who might actually affect NC schools) make between $14,000 and 38,500 (Speaker of the House) for their work. North Carolina General Assembly - How much do Legislators get paid?
