I want to know, too! I even asked my cousin who is a cop and he said he had no idea and he almost pulled someone over because he thought it was a fake plate! lol
DH said the DMV has been advertising their new red plates for 6 months now. I don't know why my husband cares cares, but he renewed his plates and came home talking about the change in license plates like it was something totally cool. *shrugs*

yeah, I had read that but it didn't explain the color difference.
So funny! Hubby bought a new car and license plates came in the mail...red. He thought it was because the car salesman told the DMV to send him a red plate to MATCH THE RED CAR!!!
I heard the blue ink was not holding up as well as they expect the red to.
thanks -- I guess that makes sense...there are some faded blue ink tags, but the red ink just seems so much harder to see (at night AND during daylight)!

You can see the state really has only used 5 designs.
I think the new custom plates might be in blue letters except my favorite the blue ridge parkway has a cool mountain background
