Hi! I am moving down to the Triangle area for a new job and am looking for what health insurance companies offer the best coverage and rates. I am looking for individual coverage, as I will be a Research Fellow and required to provide my own insurance. I'm not very familiar with what insurance options are in NC, since I currently live in MD and Carefirst Bluecross Blueshield is the big insurance provider in our state. Would anyone be so kind as to provide information as to the common providers of health insurance in NC? I don't go to the doctor's that often, but would like a provider that is accepted almost anywhere. Thanks in advance!

we are relocating (self employed) and are going to use bc/bs in NC for the family plan. The specific plan is called "_____ saver". High deductible, with 4 reg visits at $25 copay before you start towards your deductible. After the deductible, you still have to pay 30-40%, but the premiums are much less than half what we pay in NY for a similar plan. If you're healthy, the plan just might work. We use fewer than 4 visits per person per year, Thank God. At this point the blues are behaving themselves, with a few exceptions. Stay away from United Healthcare.

Plug in your basic data and it'll give you all the options available.
When you get down to the 1 or 2 (or maybe 3)...
come back and ask more specifically.
