I was going to post that as well. Plus, UNC has the state's only Pharm.D program. She should certainly apply to UNC, regardless. It may be tough, but she may even get wait-listed. It's important to at least give it a shot.

Interesting how NC has a tragic shortage of both dentists and pharmacists! More universities with these programs would certainly help.

Campbell University has a PharmD among other Pharmacy degrees, as does Wingate University.

As a parent of an alum/current employee, I would dispute a previous poster's opine of UNC-W , but everyone has their opinion....

My question to you is why here vs. any of the exceptional colleges and universities and resident tuition of California?

It's actually very common...most states only offer one public program in pharmacy and dentistry. There isn't a large demand for those majors, although there is a nationwide shortage of pharmacists.

Wingate University is a small private university in Union County, about 25 miles from Charlotte. They have an outstanding pharmacy school. Although it is only 5 years old it ranks near the top with profesional pharmacy organizations because of it's progressive educational methods. The university recently announced plans to build a satellite pharmacy campus in the Matthews-Mint Hill area near I-485.

The Pre-Pharmacy major in the udergraduate school allows students who meet certain criteria, early entry.
