When we moved here from NY, we registered our car, for which we had a NYS Title with a lienholder on it.

DMV took our title and I'm pretty sure it was sent to the bank to hold. Is that how it's done in NC? In NY even if there's a lien the owner holds the title.

Anyway - I just got the lien release from our bank. The bank is in NY. Sooooo....do they have the title, or do I take this lien release to DMV and have them issue the title?

Thanks.

We recently got a lien released from a vehicle and the bank was out of state. The title arrived in the mail from the DMV a few days later. I would give it 10 or 20 days and if you don't get your title then contact the DMV and go show them your lien release paperwork.
