Downtown Raleigh and all surrounding neighborhoods have less than 2,000

Let me know when Downtown Raleigh has more than a few 5 floor apartment buildings U/C

It's funny.... You claim Downtown Raleigh is growing just as fast as uptown... but you provide a link that suggest a dramatic opposite...
Let me know when Charlotte has something worth bragging about besides office and apartment buildings

You talk about real cities. Yeah. Because It makes a city "real" when you rely on the outlying towns and office parks to rank high in the best place to raise a family articles.

Again. Atowwwns article is the one who claimed downtown Raleigh and its surrounding neighborhood will have 11,000 population by 2019.... Which, as I said, Is like 60% smaller than Uptown and SouthEnd alone.... Uptown & SouthEnd alone will have a population of 25,500 by the end of 2015.

That gap is going to continue to spread. Uptown And Southend alone have nearly 9,000 Planned/Under Construction. According to Atowwwns article, downtown Raleigh and all of its surrounding neighborhoods have less than 2,000 planned/under construction.

Nice article Atowwwn. It really puts the size of the two downtowns into perspective. So by 2019, The number of hotel rooms uptown will equal downtown Raleighs population? That's because we all have to get rooms while our houses are sprayed for bedbugs...
Maybe you need to read the DTRA report. It's a little clearer. 1800 under construction right now. The N&O article wasn't clear. By the way that only counts Cameron Village not the Hillsborough St. Because there are at least 1000 units U/C right now Also the DTRA reports repeatedly mentions Dix Park btw I wonder why?

Either way I'll keep y'all informed about Dix Park and Raleigh Union Station

Plus the 7 planned in the warehouse district. Btw none of those are counted in the $700 million btw. No matter what huntersville485 says.

It's ok. Huntersville you can come to Raleigh to enjoy the green space. By 2017 you can ride the train down and see what a real train station looks like.

Btw Choloboy the Dix Park deal is good to go. The republican opposition dropped the bill to block the sale to city. Also the Raleigh city council voted unanimously to accept Dix deal last week. The council of state is expected to accept Dix deal next week.

1960 3,356 +124.3%
1970 7,640 +127.7%
1980 21,763 +184.9%
1990 43,858 +101.5%
2000 94,536 +115.6%
2010 135,234 +43.1%
2013 151,088 +11.7%

Or we can just look at this:

Raleigh density: 3,100 ppl sqmi
Charlotte density: 2,600 ppl sqmi.

Heck, annex NC and you'll be almost 10 million and really fast growing! lol !!!

This isn't about city limits, it's about downtowns.

You're the one claiming downtown Raleigh is even somewhat as big as uptown.... When in reality, it's like 70% smaller and will be an even larger difference by 2019.

What does Cary have to do with downtown Raleigh???

Downtown Raleigh and it's surrounding neighborhoods (Which is a significantly larger area than Uptown and SouthEnd) will have 11,000 population by 2019 compared to 25,500 in SouthEnd and Uptown in 2015...

Expand your city limits all you want. That doesn't change downtown Raleigh lags Uptown by huge margins. Seriously, in 2020... Uptown's population will likely be 70% larger than downtown Raleigh..

Go ahead, remind us how big Dorothea dix, is... Many people aren't impressed or they'd be flocking there. Romare Bearden, in uptown, attracted a 43 floor apartment building, 28 floor apartment building, 33 floor apartment tower, 22 floor apartment tower and a 25 floor Office Tower. How many developments are sprouting up around Dorothea dix?

But despite all that... The population overall will be only 11,000 by 2019... Uptown and SouthEnd will have a population of 25,500 by years end. That's not including midtown and surrounding neighborhoods. The 11,000 included all of the area around downtown Raleigh.

And downtown Raleigh and uptown Charlotte are both the same physical size at around 1 sq. mile.

Please keep us informed on Dorothea dix. Lets see if it matches the development it spurs like our little Romare Park did.

LOL, they are flocking to downtown (and surrounding neighborhoods) of Raleigh where have you been! Central Park is only going to excel the growth faster. Difference is, they're flocking to uptown to get within that 14 block radius of something to do in Charlotte…..comparatively speaking that is, lol

Then how come the population will only be 11,000 by 2019? That's not flocking.

Uptown and SouthEnd alone will have had around 9,000 apartments built by then...

SouthEnd and Uptown in 2015 will have a population of 25,500... That's like 60% larger than downtown Raleigh and surrounding in 2019 after allll those people flocking to downtown... Just get over it, Uptown is much, much larger than downtown Raleigh AND surrounding.
