Check your PBS listings for this great documentary about NC's recent political shift. I learned a lot.

In my opinion, Art Pope is a narrow-minded, homophobic "conservative", (definition: wants the world to align with old, straight, white men's view of it).

I am for the new lower personal and corporate income tax rates, however it's ironic that Art Pope's fortune comes from lowest-tier retailers (below Family Dollar or Walmart) whose clientele is the same group he wants to stifle the voices and votes of.

I'm a big Bill Moyers fan, and no fan of Art Pope (despite sharing a surname, I am absolutely NOT related to him), and I'm deeply sickened and ashamed by the political direction that our state has taken over the past few years. So I'm looking forward to watching the program you mentioned, in order to learn more about the situation, expecting Moyers' usual insightful, incisive approach, while still remaining fair and levelheaded. But shouldn't you have put this thread in the general North Carolina forum, rather than the Triangle-area one? It's really much more of a statewide topic than a specifically regional one.

Totally agree with you, thanks for speaking for me too! I look forward to seeing the program. Although I doubt I will learn anything about him that will put him any lower than a snakes belly where he is currently at.

I haven't seen it, but expect anything from Moyers to be as objective as a Sean Hannity piece on Obama.

That's it, exactly. You can already see Moyers' audience salivating for a hatchet job on Pope.

So you admit Art Pope is bad for North Carolina. Glad to see Brad finally come around.

I was pointing out the hypocrisy of Progressives complaining about money in politics unless it is Progressive money. If you complain about Pope you have to complain about Soros and his organizations that give to ProgressNC. Either money in politics is bad or it isn't, be consistent.
