I wouldn't move to Henderson for reasons mentioned above. However, I also recommend looking into Wake Forest. It's a nice mixture of Research Triangle suburbia and an old timey NC small town. It's just northeast of Raleigh, the commute would take around 30 minutes or slightly more but I think it's worth it. You'll get bored of Henderson eventually and it's honestly not a very nice area in general. Oxford, right down the road, is a little better but doesn't beat Wake Forest. So basically, the Wake Forest commute would be worth it IMO. Even some pockets of North Raleigh might be worth looking into, the areas closer to Falls Lake. Those neighborhoods out there are very nice but they seem to be a little pricey, and it would roughly take 45 minutes to drive up to Henderson from those areas as opposed to 30 minutes from Wake Forest. I don't believe there is a lot of traffic on Highway 1 between Wake Forest and Henderson, another good thing.
