How many gates are open Mon-Frid at Bragg? Are there alternative routes coming from Jack Britt where I can avoid some traffic?

If you don't mind a long commute check out Holly Springs or Fuquay Variana. Schools are great, shopping options better, and its safe. We were stationed at Fort Bragg for 4 years. Lived in Anderson Creek Club which is a great neighborhood (friendly neighbors, kids play outside, running/walking, some exercise classes) close to the base but the schools weren't that great. Fayetteville Christian School is a private school that has bus service to the neighborhood which a lot of people did. Just don't buy in Anderson Creek Club its a horror show trying to sell. Long story short the developer owns 51% of the vote and continues to build new homes and the homeowners have no say in the neighborhood and they just started building a sister neighborhood "Anderson Creek Crossing" next door which is hurting property values. If we ever get stationed at Bragg again we are willing to commute from Fuquay.

I'd really like to keep my commute to 40 mins or less to Bragg. Ideally looking to rent a home in a community with a pool and has good elementary schools that is also dog friendly. Any suggestions???

As others have said here, look in the Jack Britt school district for homes. If you ask anyone around here, that's the answer you'll get. Even if you don't have kids. I don't know of many communities with a pool, but there are pools on Bragg you can use for a small fee, and there are pools around the city. Are you on any of the FB pages for Fayetteville? There are a couple of pages for housing. Look up one called Fayetteville Fort Bragg housing network.

We've been here in Fayetteville now for 4.5 years and will be moving to Wake county very soon (unless my husband takes a job in another state, which I'm hoping doesn't happen) for the schools, lower crime rates, and more things to do.

There is no info on Jack Britt, Eastover, or Andrews Rd areas on the Fayetteville police crime map website. Anyone know why? I'm concerned about burglaries and peppery damage. Anyone have a preference between Southern Pines, Pinehurst, and whispering pines? Why is Farm Life elementary rated better than southern pines primary?

I would search Facebook (parent groups, pages, etc) for more information about those schools

I have a friend who lives in Pinehurst. Her kids are just under school aged and she used to work with me on post. Her commute was 35-ish minutes talking Wayside Rd to the gate (forget the name of that gate). She was (and is) really happy out there. We are moving back and going right back to where we were - JB area.

Public iMap This website is pretty helpful and can be accessed from the Fayetteville Police Department's website.

Bottom line - there is no safe place anywhere. Find a pretty home in a place that is convenient to your life and get an alarm system. Gate's Four is in JB and gated, but I wouldn't want to live there for the extra cost. Anderson Creek Club is gated, really pretty, but lots of HOA regulations and fees and its too far out in the middle of no where. Carolina Lakes is also gated. I has lakes, but again, lots of HOA regs and fees (like no fences, that's not going to work for my pets), and is not in a direction I want to go.

When we were looking this time I kept my search to JB and Gray's Creek school districts. I like being more on that end of town because it's closer to the freeway and keeps my commute to the beach at around 1 hr 45 min versus 2.5 hours from the other side of Bragg.

Have you accepted the job on Bragg?

Thanks for the reply Snuggler - I hear those are the best options living in Fayetteville. I'm with ya on the HOA fees. Big drawback about Andersen club and Carolina lakes is the awful public schools according to my research. I think at this point I'm going to stock with Moore County. Seems to be safer and prettier even though commute is longer
