Prior to Tepper I would say absolutely Raleigh's proposal to land an MLS team was more favorable. Everything you just mentioned has come into play fairly recently.
I think both regions would have made good sense for MLS. If it's looking like Charlotte is going to be able to swing it then cool. I'd rather it go to Charlotte then bypass NC all together.
IMO MLS is more intrigued by Tepper's $$$ than Charlotte being a must have market.

I agree. Which is why now all of a sudden it looks like Charlotte might secure the last expansion team. Which is all fine and good, but to act like Charlotte was a golden destination for MLS is a bit of homering. I think Raleigh and the NCFC had a clearly stronger initial proposal to land one of the expansion teams but I'm not going to act like we were a top priority site either. Raleigh nor Charlotte was likely to land one of the 4 spots. Now that Tepper is in play, at least there's a better chance NC will be able to expand its soccer loving demographic. Would be good for the state regardless of where it goes.

People have said they wanted Charlotte and Atlanta to be rivals, sort of like how they have several teams that are regional rivals in other parts.
Whether Charlotte would be any more or less of a rivalry than Raleigh and Atlanta, I dunno.
But my circles regarding MLS are Charlotte centric, so who knows. I too think at the end of the day, it’s all about the $$$$
Hopefully, more details will come out tomorrow from the event below:
Edit: The link below goes on and on about Atlanta.

With Tepper comes Bank of America Stadium -- MLS would surely be fine with more large capacity crowds. And Charlotte would sure be fine with the chance to beat Atlanta in another sport.
"It would be brilliant in the future we could have a darby between Atlanta and Charlotte. We'd look forward to that," Eales said.
I feel like there’s more of a competitive spirit between Charlotte and Atlanta in general than Atlanta & Raleigh. Particularly as Raleigh seems to be more content with not being lumped in the south despite totally being southern, lol.

Tepper just came out publicly with his desire to put a roof on Bank of America stadium. I have to say that's the cherry on top for a very disappointing season. Once its up, I'll probably sell my tickets and just watch outside from the tailgate.

The goal is to get the super bowl and final four to come to Charlotte

The Superbowl's not going to happen without a plan to deal with 8 inches of snow in the first week of February. Investing in that capacity doesn't make sense for Charlotte when there's one snow storm every third year. If Charlotte wanted a final 4, they should have built a high capacity b-ball stadium uptown (like the Colosseum that was torn down). A teacup arena barely fit for college hoops is nice for an owner that doesn't want to invest in the team, but it was silly for the city to pay for if it had Final Four ambitions.
A roof on Bank of America stadium is an expensive way to compound past mistakes and ruin theperfection of autumn in NC in the process.
