Beach w/ Best Waves (teens, tweens) (Atlantic Beach: live, relocation to, investment property)

We have older kids, who live to surf and boogie board. Our kids have grown up on the west coast, but we are considering a relocation to the RTP area and a bit later considering an investment property near the coast.

I understand OBX to have good waves, but what about the beaches a bit further south?
Atlantic Beach to Holden ... any of these positioned for surfing or good boogie boarding.

I love a gentle wave, but kids (and hubby) are bored easily with that ... adrenaline junkies
