Hi-
We're moving from NYC and while we earn well above the maximum required for the NYC Child health plan, they allow you to pay "in full" and get coverage for your kids. The plan is good and not expensive compared to private, so that's what we use for our kids. Is there a similar plan in NC? That is, is there a state run health insurance that wealthier people who don't meet the cutoff can still pay in full for?

Husband is freelancer so we need to find coverage as his job does not provide it.

Thank you.

As far as I know (and I work for DHHS), no. You could contact the NCSHP The State Health Plan of North Carolina (http://www.shpnc.org/index.html - broken link) and ask 'em for recommendations. I'm thinking that BCBS of the Carolinas might have something available.

No I don't think so. I have friends who don't qualify for Medicaid or Health Choice and they are just out of luck You might want to check out heath choice though, it may have a higher cut off rate than medicaid.
