I also may suggest in investing in a portable automotive GPS. I think staples has some on sale for 199. It such a time saver and less cumbersome and time consuming using regular maps. The one I have has pedestrian mode so if I am in a city I can carry with me walking to find my destination. It also lets you know of closest buisness or points of interest. You can zoom in and out as well.
This link has various NC maps from just city specific to topography etc for purchase, and of course like most states at the welcome centers you can get free maps. http://www.omnimap.com/catalog/cats/ncarol.htm#p3

Yep, that's a pretty good map company. I've bought from them many times over the years and they're located in North Carolina too.
I also like the excellent street map books produced by ADC Maps, but their coverage of NC is limited to the major metro areas of the Triangle, Triad and Charlotte. Large scale atlas with street level detail, showing ZIP Codes, block numbers, schools, hospitals, points of interest, shopping centers, airports, parks and more. Fully indexed.
Thanks for all the help with the maps it sure helped and i already order a few, thanks again.
