My husband is heading out there to look for work. He has a cdl A with tanker and double/triple. He is open to doing labor work too. We have called on jobs in the paper and on the job service website and we are hearing that they aren't hiring. Have things changed out there? Just a few weeks ago we were reading stories of people getting jobs as soon as they got out there and now every place is saying they aren't hiring. He is thinking of not coming out there if the job market has crashed.

Well you could call up the Tesoro Refinery in Mandan N.D. ask for the loading rack, then ask who ever answers what carriers haul out from there.....At least you could get some trucking company names and then call them..
Well the hubby is out there gong company to company and he keeps hearing they want X amount of years experience. if that is so then why do the postings say no experience needed? he has experience in driving trucks and under ground utility construction.
well he went in there and asked the lady about what he needs to do to find an oil field job and she said go online and look and yeah there are oil jobs here. He is freaking out because like 10 places have told him he has to have oil field experience.
I wonder if this has to do with the working homeless getting kicked out of the park in Williston. Some of those people may have lost their job as they were acting stupid in the park. As they didn't have prior oil field experience, employers could be using it as a way to blacklist them from jobs. Before the working homeless story, I hadn't heard of the prior oil field experience being required.
It also may be that they want to make sure the new hires will work through the winter. I wouldn't want to dump the expenses of bringing someone onboard and have them quit 2 months in when November shows up.

Reason: language
could be. Its hard to tell an employer give me a chance i am different than all the rest and i can handle the winters. I hope he finds the one place willing to give him a chance. Totally understand why everyone would be Leary of all these strangers taking over the area.
Power fuels and Sajel called back and said they are willing to train people. Has anyone heard of these places?
